Financial translation is a field that is full of traps for the uninitiated – i.e. translators who rush in where angels fear to tread, armed only with a yellowed business dictionary and an ill-deserved sense of confidence.

This is an area into which I have been working my way for several years. Building on my Accounting and Economics studies at school and university, I completed an Open University Certificate in Accounting in 2006 which is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and other accounting bodies. Learning how to prepare balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements has afforded me the necessary insight to translate these and other key elements of financial reporting.

As a part of the ongoing learning process necessary in this broad and extremely demanding area, I continue to work closely together with a company specialising in financial translation. Should I feel that my expertise is not sufficient for your particular text, I will make every effort to put you in contact with colleagues specialising in this area.
